Global Citizenship
Global Citizenship & Service

Global citizenship is further encouraged by school trips led by our experienced staff from around the world. These trips are planned to complement and reinforce the academic programme. They typically involve outstanding learning opportunities to take part in service projects.

All Senior School students are required to take part in expeditions and overseas trips to broaden their outlook on life and contribute to their own personal growth as young adults. These trips complement and reinforce the academic programme and typically involve taking part in voluntary service projects.

For decades, La Garenne has provided a framework perfectly adapted to young boarders.  We have put in place a coherent and structured organization which enables us to carry out our educational mission and philosophy.  We are totally dedicated to the well being of the children and to sharing our essential values.

School life can be further explained under 3 headings:

An environment dedicated to the development of your child

The children have the opportunity to develop in a privileged setting.  Indeed, the sports, cultural and recreational activities are practiced in small groups, guided by teachers.  This method ensures the safety of the children. Throughout the year, a structured educational follow-up integrates the children into our organization.  This method enables us to detect and solve any problems specific to each pupil in line with our preoccupation with personal development.
Boarding school life is a combination of both school life and the family life of the child. The communication between the staff, teachers and the children ensures continual development.  The parental bond is an essential component: the children have regular telephone contact with their family. The directors of La Garenne ensure the continuity between school life and the family lives of the children.

The objective at the forefront of our mission: to pass on a "savoir etre"

Our ambition is to offer each child the environment in which to evolve into a highly-developed and open-minded adult.
We participate in the intellectual, physical, cultural and psychological development of young people in order to create responsible and interdependent teenagers.  Thus, we prepare them to answer life’s challenges.
The entire educational team aims to teach the children the essential values: respect, tolerance, solidarity, sharing, courtesy, ethics, order and punctuality.  Each adult also ensures that the children follow the rules of life in a community.

An educational and family philosophy

The philosophy of the school supports a family atmosphere. By mixing adults with the children and teenagers, each generation is represented within the team. Wisdom is shared whilst kindness and energy grow. The children are grouped in mixed-age teams with a teacher: this method encourages open communication and gives the children the opportunity to both develop and become independent whilst respecting different cultures.
