It is with great pleasure that we send you the necessary information in order to organise your child(ren)'s stay with us this coming summer. We will do our upmost to make your child(ren)'s summer camp an unforgettable experience.
Do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org concerning any further requests you may have. We look forward to welcoming your child(ren) this summer.
Kind regards from Villars,
New for this Summer Camp 2019
The school is working very hard to provide new experiences and new activities for the children.
We would like to bring to your attention that we have made some major changes this summer camp:
1. Family Time: This year, the school has decided to provide another session, so the children will have the possibility to speak to their relatives 3 times instead of 2.
2. Weekly Programme:In order for the children to have an overnight experience in the mountains and many new activities during the weekend, the children will now have classes all day on a Monday. Please refer to the article below regarding the camp programme.
3. New Activities: Many summer activities have been added to the programme, of which most are available for the first time here at La Garenne! The older children will have the opportunity, on certain days, to choose a preferred activity they wish to participate in for the following day.
4. La Garenne Farm: Finally, a farm has been created on the La Garenne Campus. During the day children will be able to visit the goats, hens and rabbits.
The school telephone line can be very busy and we recommend that every child brings an electronic device for communication. Children are not allowed to bring computers.
At check-in, all electronic devices (such as mobile telephones, iPads, iPods and tablets) are to be handed in. The child(ren) will have access to them only during Family Time. Please make sure the name of your child(ren)is written on the device, as well as on each cable, charger, additional accessories and headphones (the use of headphones will be obligatory. Make sure your child brings its own).
The IT department will need access to the devices in order to connect to the internet, please make sure you inform the staff member of the passcode for each device along with their username and password for your chosen service (Skype, WeChat, WhatsApp, FaceTime, Viber). This will help to avoid connection difficulties.
During Family Time you will be able to contact your child(ren) via their electronic device (iPad, iPhone, mobile phone, etc.) using the voice call or video services (Skype, WeChat, WhatsApp, FaceTime, Viber). If your child(ren) is/are unavailable on the their device, please contact the school line +41 (0) 24 495 24 53. If you are unreachable during Family Time, let us know in advance and we will organize another time for you to speak with your child(ren).
To avoid additional costs related to “Data roaming”, please be sure to set the telephones settings to off for this option. This is the parents’ responsibility.
The child(ren) will be allowed to use their device ONLY during the following times:
Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday are the official days to call your child(ren).
Important: Some children may miss Family Time due to extra activities, expeditions or any other special events. We will inform you in advance and another time will be organized.

Once again this year, we are happy to offer the parents digital photo memories of their child(ren)'s stay at La Garenne. These are taken by our professional photographer, Philippe Latour - who was a former student at La Garenne. A daily selection of photos will be published on our social media platform, we can not guarantee that every child will appear every day. Please inform the office in advance if you do not wish your child(ren) to appear on our social media or the school website.
The different options are: CHF 650.- for 50 pictures per stay (min. 4 weeks stay) CHF 450.- for 30 pictures per stay CHF 350.- for 20 pictures per stay To review our photographer's excellent work, please go to this link.
A few days after your child(ren)'s stay, you will receive a link by email to access the pictures of your child(ren) in digital format.
The children who are registered with the photo option, may appear more frequently on our social media platforms.
Please confirm by email to email@example.com if you wish your child(ren) to have this wonderful keepsake option (limited places).
Europa Park - Limited places available
Alongside the normal afternoon activities, our camp also offers students the chance to participate in exclusive outings. Europa Park (the largest amusement park in Europe) remains our most popular excursion.
The journey takes the children just across the border into Germany in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach, for 24 hours of serious fun in the park on the roller coasters, games and watching shows. The two day trip includes a stay in a 5* hotel within the park, and gastronomy from all around the world.
Available only for A, B, C and E sessions (CHF 600.- all inclusive). Minimum age: 8 years old, minimum height: 1m20.
The summer season can be chilly in the mountains so we kindly ask you to carefully follow the clothing list (do not forget some warm clothes).
In addition to the clothing list, at the end of each camp session we will organise some themed parties:
Wednesday 10th of July: Pyjama Party (bring your best pyjama outfit) Wednesday 24th of July: Fluo Party (bring a white or black t-shirt that can be painted on) Wednesday 7th of August: Colour Party (white or black t-shirt that can be painted on)
Please make sure you have marked or labelled all personal belongings and clothing (including shoes, tennis racket, swimming towels, backpacks, underwear, etc.) with resistant labels. Each label should have a minimum of the first name of the child followed by the two first letters of the surname (example: John SM. for John Smith).
We have every confidence that your child(ren) will have a wonderful experience at our summer camp. La Garenne takes great pride in having approachable and friendly staff, making sure there is always someone with whom your child(ren) may speak should they have any questions or difficulties during their stay.
To make sure that everyone has a positive experience here at La Garenne, we encourage all the children to uphold our simple rules of courtesy and respect.
If you have any concerns or questions, do not hesitate to speak to one of the many members of staff
Greet everyone with good morning, or good afternoon.
Show respect for other people and their property.
Try our best to speak in French or English
Behave responsibly at all times and listen carefully to instructions from Staff.
Enjoy our summer camp experience!

On the occasion when multiple arrivals happen, you may have to wait for a few minutes before being attended to by a staff member, we will do our utmost to welcome you promptly. Our aim is to provide our families enough time to answer questions and settle in. If you believe your time with us will be longer than mentioned, please contact the Admissions at firstname.lastname@example.org a few days prior to your arrival. They will be happy to answer any of your questions.
As the summer camp period is short, we prefer to limit the number of family visits during the children’s stay. They need to adapt to their new environment and the daily programmes are intense. However, if you wish to visit your child(ren) please contact the school office 4 daysin advance, to allow us to plan. Thank you for your understanding.
According to Swiss Law each student must have insurance covering illness and accidents. All students have been enrolled within the school insurance policy prior to arrival. For special cases, please don't forget to bring a copy of your current insurance.
We remind parents to give your child(ren) the code or key of the suitcase(s) and to label each suitcase, clearly with the child's name.
Language Classes and Private Lessons
Students will be provided with all the necessary equipment for their language classes apart from a pencil case, which we suggest they bring themselves.
For organisational reasons, students who have requested additional private lessons will not be allowed to make any changes or cancellations upon arrival at the school.
The recommended amount of pocket money has already been charged to the parents’ invoice. We will make sure each child receives it in instalments during their stay. If you wish to leave additional money, you will be able to do so on the arrival day.
For students participating in the Europa Park trip, an amount of 50€ (euro) has also been included in addition.
For students celebrating their birthday during the camp, do not hesitate to let us know if you wish us to organise a special celebration (cake, gift, drink, etc.). If this is the case please contact email@example.com, the cost of this option is CHF 250.-
For the safety of our students, we ask that ALL medication as well as any vitaminsare handed in to a member of staff on arrival.
Please be sure all medication is in its original packaging and clearly marked with your child’s name, as well as instructions in English or French.
Prior to the start of the camp, we ask that you check your child(ren) carefully for head lice. Please inform the school if lice are found and if a treatment is already underway. All children will be checked again upon arrival and treated if necessary.
