Extracurricular Activities

Discover more

Every student is enrolled in at least 2 extracurricular activities: sports, arts, or a mix of both. It’s a chance to explore your interests, discover new talents, and keep a healthy balance alongside your academic life. Extracurricular activities aren’t just a break from class: they help our students grow into well-rounded, resilient, and focused people.

Whether you want to improve something you already love or try something completely new, there’s a wide range of options to choose from. You will stay active, build confidence, and develop new skills – all while having fun with friends and learning what you’re capable of.

If you show passion or ambition in a particular area, we can create a tailored programme to support your goals. Whether it is for an individual student or a small group, we are ready to go the extra mile to help them grow and excel.

And if you’re curious about more than one activity, no problem. You are welcome to try something different each term. Take a look at the options. There’s something here for every taste and talent.

La Garenne Academies

When our students show real passion for something, we are ready to support them with rigorous, specialised programmes. Some activities have sparked such enthusiasm that we have developed dedicated Academies around them. Our Football, Skiing, Golfing, and Go-Karting Academies are developed in partnership with internationally recognised experts and champions in their fields.

Go-Karting
Academy

Learn more

Go-Karting is speed and fun. It is a sport that teaches focus, precision, and control. At La Garenne Go-Karting Academy, new drivers have the opportunity to train under the guidance of former world champion Nicolas Rohrbasser, learning both the theory and technique behind competitive racing.

From mastering corners to understanding race dynamics, you will develop real driving skills while building confidence on the track. And of course, one of the best parts is putting those skills to the test in friendly races with your classmates.

Golf Academy

Learn more

Golf is a sport of precision, patience, and discipline. Students who wish to pursue golf at a higher level can join our specialised Golf Academy, developed in partnership with Julien Clément, Switzerland’s top-ranked golfer for over a decade and a former PGA European Tour (now DP Tour) professional.

Each student follows a personalised path that includes technical development, physical conditioning, and mental training. Using advanced tools like our in-house Trackman Golf Simulator, our professional coaches provide detailed swing analysis and ongoing feedback to support continuous progress.

With clear objectives and regular practice, students grow in skill and confidence while enjoying access to outstanding golf courses across the Swiss Alps. The Academy also competes in interschool and international golf tournaments, offering valuable experience in a competitive setting.

Juventus Football Academy

Learn more

Our students have the opportunity to train with the Juventus Academy, part of one of the world’s most respected football programmes.

Alongside students from the local community, participants train twice a week under expert guidance, following the Juventus methodology. Those not involved in other sporting activities may also take part in additional physical training sessions to further support their development.

Throughout the season, the Academy competes in 20 to 30 matches against Swiss clubs and local schools. These matches provide valuable experience, foster team spirit, and give students the chance to meet and compete with peers from other schools and communities.

Our staff supervise and support all sessions, ensuring each student’s progress and well-being, both on and off the pitch.

Ski Academy

Learn more

The La Garenne Ski Academy is offered in partnership with École Suisse de Ski, the leading ski school in Villars. Whether you are a complete beginner or already confident on the slopes, students of all ages receive high-quality instruction from experienced professionals, with enough instructors to ensure personalised guidance and safety.

The Academy helps students build a strong technical foundation, develop a passion for sport and nature, and progress toward competitive racing if desired. Members train to ski confidently on any piste, in any conditions, and are encouraged to challenge themselves while enjoying the alpine environment.

The Ski Team competes in regional Swiss races, Swiss International School competitions, and junior FIS Ski Federation events. At the end of the season, students have the opportunity to enjoy skiing for pure fun in some of the top resorts in the region, free from the pressure of competition. Alumni of the Ski Academy have gone on to captain university ski teams and win titles in professional championships – proof of the strength and impact of the programme.

Expeditions

Our expeditions invite students to explore new places, challenge themselves, and connect with the natural and cultural world around them. From hiking through mountain trails and forests to rafting down alpine rivers, and from exploring prehistoric caves to visiting salt mines. Each journey offers a new perspective and a sense of adventure. These experiences allow young people to discover the world around them, explore it with curiosity, and create a lasting appreciation for what awaits them beyond school walls.

Some expeditions are an essential part of the academic curriculum and are therefore required for all students. These curriculum-linked journeys deepen classroom learning through real-world experience. In addition, students take part in regular Saturday outdoor activities, and can choose from a range of extra options on weekends.
